When was the last time you actually played? Play is a powerful shift tool when we are stuck in negative patterns. We are all aware that we have a left and a right hemisphere in our brains. Art in any of its forms whether painting or music or dance, or the heaps of other arts out there, has the ability to disconnect you from the patterns of your left brain simply by the directive to focus on the patterns your right brain is creating!

We are always trying to do too much, and the stillness created by ART in our brains hyper-active left hemispheres actually bring about changes in our energy. You start to see the energy return, and to come back in to where it needs to be.

Alison Pinto left the corporate world and surrendered to the urgency she felt to study more on her passion for color and art. Self-taught, she paints in varying mediums, but the characteristic transparency and flow of watercolors soon became what she loved best. Currently based in Mumbai, India, she believes that ART is a very personal experience. “I believe the true value of art can only be recognized in its power to engage you on a deeper level.”

Being a photography lover, she feels helped her to view objects in a different way. She sources her painting references through all her own photos. You will see the resemblance of the work to her photos; however she will not paint them as is, but transforms that realism into a uniquely expressive form. Her work has a certain gentle enthusiasm to it that relates to her approach to painting as well as her personality.

Her paintings are simple in composition. They’re characteristically recognizable though, by her distinctive approach of defining her shapes though a wonderful softness in the play between light and shadow. A closer look often reveals an unusual range of colors blending effortlessly to describe the form.

Her favorite part of her watercolors is her process, which is meticulous and meditative. While some take days of work to develop, more playful work might just take an hour or two. Both are equally enjoyable, and she finds it tremendously satisfying finding ways to imbibe the work with an underlying sense of peace and joy.

Her underlying thought is to create more than just a good story to a viewer, but to be able to evoke a response on a deeper level. Her greatest desire is to bring hope through painting and teaching art. Her personal measure for success is when her paintings have been said to give people a feeling of optimism, through their glowing fresh color and form.

Alison is an official Art Educator for the world-renowned brand Daniel Smith. And State Head for Maharashtra, for the International Watercolor Society. Her work has exhibited in 15 countries, and has garnered appreciation from respected peers in the field internationally, as well as won her awards.
